“Marriage is a comprehensive union. It
unites spouses at all levels of their being: hearts, minds, and bodies, where
man and woman form a two-in-one-flesh union. It is based on the anthropological
truth that men and women are distinct and complementary, on the biological fact
that reproduction requires a man and a woman, and on the sociological reality
that children benefit from having a mother and a father. As the act that unites
spouses can also create new life, marriage is especially apt for procreation
and family life. Uniting spouses in these all-encompassing ways, marriage calls
for all-encompassing commitment: permanent and exclusive.” (1)
Men and women were made different for good reasons.
The Lord did not not make any mistakes and made each of us male or female. We are created in the image of God and in his
likeness. When we work together in our
marriage it can be like two complementary items. We each have the power to work
with our spouse to create new life and that is something that can only be done
with the right biological processes in place. As we unite as husband and wife
we give our children the best blessing ever to be raised by two parents working
together for their well-being.
“Marriage
between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled
to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a
mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity.”(2)
I truly believe as we adhere to this advice that we
will be able to raise happy, healthy and well-rounded children. We see the
world around us accepting new definitions of the word marriage, now is the time
for us to stand up and defend marriage and what we believe in. this does not
however give us permission to treat those who feel differently in an unkind
way. Let us all remember to be Christlike in the way that treat others and we
can help to make this world a better place.
